December 15, 2022 - Sisters of Mercy of North Carolina Foundation announces grant awards totaling $1,005,000 to 22 non-profit organizations. Of the 22 grants, nine were in the area of education totaling $380,000; five supported health care for a total of $219,000; the remaining eight were for social services totaling $406,000.
The organizations received grants for services in the following five counties: Buncombe, Gaston, Jackson, Mecklenburg, and Union Counties in North Carolina.

Asheville City Schools Foundation, Asheville, NC was awarded $55,000 to provide staff salary support for the In Real Life Afterschool Program.
Augustine Literacy Project Charlotte, Charlotte, NC was awarded $40,000 for operating support, including salary and benefits for program staff.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Central Carolinas, Charlotte, NC was awarded $50,000 for salary and benefits of one Match Support Specialist, as well as other operating expenses.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Gaston, Gastonia, NC was awarded $45,000 to provide operating support contributing to programming, utilities and maintenance.
Charlotte Bilingual Preschool, Charlotte, NC was awarded $40,000 for the salaries and benefits of teachers.
Communities in Schools of North Carolina, Raleigh, NC was awarded $30,000 to provide salary support for the CIS Student Support Specialist at Smokey Mountain Elementary School in Whittier.
HELPS Education Fund, Raleigh, NC was awarded $50,000 to provide salary and benefits support for HELPS implementation coaches working in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.
MeckEd, Charlotte, NC was awarded $50,000 for the salary of a Career Pathways advisor.
Read to Succeed, Asheville, NC was awarded $20,000 to support the contractual salary of a K-3 Tutoring Program Literacy Specialist.

Advocates for Healthy Citizens, Gastonia, NC was awarded $44,000 for the salary of the Patient Support Coordinator in the Medication Assistance Program and to defray the cost of medication vouchers.
All Souls Counseling Center, Asheville, NC was awarded $45,000 to provide operating support, specifically, fees for contractual therapists.
Council on Aging in Union County, Monroe, NC was awarded $50,000 to provide salaries for in-home aides.
HealthQuest of Union County, Monroe, NC was awarded $40,000 for operating support contributing to staff salaries and the purchase of generic medications.
Jewish Family Services of WNC, Asheville, NC was awarded $40,000 to provide salary support for the Clinical Director.

Ada Jenkins Center, Davidson, NC was awarded $50,000 for the salary and benefits of a case coordinator and related operating expenses.
Charlotte Family Housing, Charlotte, NC was awarded $50,000 to provide operating support, primarily contributing to the salary and benefits of social work staff.
Charlotte Rescue Mission, Charlotte, NC was awarded $55,000 to provide salary and benefits support for Dove's Nest substance abuse counselors.
Friendship Community Development Corporation, Charlotte, NC was awarded $50,000 for the salaries of program staff and to defray food costs.
MANNA Food Bank, Inc., Asheville, NC was awarded $60,000 to provide operating support for food distribution.
OnTrack Financial Education & Counseling, Asheville, NC was awarded $55,000 to support the Housing & Financial Capabilities Program.
